This is an absolutely gorgeous Louis Vuitton Sonatine bag, circa early 2000s.

The Sonatine is a well-loved classic by Louis Vuitton but after its run in the early 2000s, it has been discontinued. It is more difficult these days to find one in good condition; the Sonatine has quite a loyal fan following and not many people let go of theirs.


The Sonatine is a top handle bag only; there are no side attachments built in to make it convertible. It is designed to be an essentials-only handbag.



This bag is in very good condition for its age. The inside lining is red alcantara, a suede-like material that is soft to the touch. The lining has rubbing from age and wear, but still intact and functional. One slim inner pocket.

The inside lining might benefit from a gentle professional cleaning.

The handles have a nice, honey-colored patina, which we love to see on naturally aged LV bags, and they are very worn in.



There is some pull wear near the snap closure from being opened and closed many times over the years. Still functional and not torn, but please see photos.

The date code has been worn off of the lining from age and wear; the only number we can make out is a zero, so we estimate this bag to be circa 2000 or 2001.





This is a super unique Louis Vuitton bag and we are thrilled to have two in the shop this season. The Sonatine has always been praised for its simple classic design and its functionality. Compared to some of the smaller pochettes, the Sonatine is fairly roomy inside for a smaller handbag.



If you are on the hunt for a bag you will likely not see on too many other people, this is it. Increasingly more rare and definitely a vintage Louis Vuitton style that has held its value over time.
